All comments greatly appreciated! Cause of the fire is still not known for sure; may have been a downed elec. line. http://www.pe.com/local-news/riverside-county/riverside/riverside-headlines-index/20130228-jurupa-fire-acreage-at-150-to-175-acres-evac-center-set-up.ece for the latest info (PS: My horse and I were never in any real danger.)
I guess the third season is starting in CA. First you have the wet season and everything is green. Then you have the brown season when things dry up and then you have the black season when someone throws a butt out the window and the place goes up in smoke. I always loved the black season it took me an extra hour or two to get either to or from work. Glad everything is under control and all is safe Plumpster.
But it's AWFUL, Varda!! Indeed you have your worries!! Is it still going on or have they had it extinguished?? Do you need being on your watch?? Horrible sight!! Thanks - or what to say - Varda!!
I think that I would have been more then a little nervouse never having experienced something like that Glad you all are ok
Plumpossum - you had a close call. Your photos had lovely colors - sobering when I realized the source was actually fire. Awfully glad the wind didn't turn & you are safe.
Makes me nervous just looking at the picture!
Thanks, Gjanet. The fire never seriously threatened me, but a wind shift could have made it a different story!
Hope everything ended OK for you and yours. This really looks scary.
No, RH, but it did give me quite a start when I went out to feed my horse!
Oh, my. Not a good sight to see. Hope the smoke from it wasn't a problem for you.
