Ah, the official U.S. Army issue jungle boot. It must have been designed by a team of geniuses. The sole gave a good grip in any terrain and contained a steel plate for protection against booby traps and sharpened sticks (called pungi stakes). There were holes in both sides to allow water to drain out. The upper was woven of nylon so it would dry rapidly. And the rest was durable leather. They supported the foot and ankle well and were comfortable to wear.
