In one of the last front yards before Downtown, I spot this Fox squirrel. Its pretty friendly, this was taken without any zoom. Lets peek around the corner here for a distant glimpse of Downtown Ames!

Aww, bright eyes & bushy tailed.

niccolino59

I love that gorgeous tail! What a beautiful creature.

Toto

Another cute midwest squirrel. I find it interesting how often the little critters tend to show up in the photos taken by us the the nation's heartland.

warbler

Thanks BrightSky for the comment!

I knew you would understand Marchon!! :))

To help mekeep on the fine line, Plum!! :)

Plumpossum

Why would you want a tail like a squirrel, Warbler???

Gladstone

This is a cute little feller, but not up your pants. Looking forward to going around the corner.

Marchon

Nothing like a squirrel up your shorts to make you run around a corner.....

BrightSky9

Fine photo. Thanks!

warbler

And maybe over the eye, too Sandy. Good eye!

It is a great tail SunnyBarb! It kinda makes me want one! :)

Maybe a tumble with a cat or something, Laura. Like you say, it seems to be recovering if so. Thanks.

A peek and then around we go, Cathy! Thanks for coming along.

cevas

A great picture of this little one! Thank you Warbler! Oh good we're going to peek around the corner ...

warbler

I think they hold their tails like that so they look bigger, rose. I think he was letting mr know close enough was close enough!

Thanks Robyn-I was just curious!

laurajane

Cute little fella. He looks like he has a little spot where his fur is growing back. I wonder what happened.

SunnyBarb25

Wow! That tail is awesome! He sure is a beauty :)

chickiemama

He IS a pretty little squirrel. Looks like he lost a little fur behind the ear.

robryan

No Dave - the closest we have is Possums. They're all through the neighbourhood - but are nocturnal, so it's not easy getting a good photo of them!

roseheather

Great picture! I love this pose with the tail up over the back. Ours do this frequently as they are feasting.

warbler

Thats right Beekay and its coat is the right color for a silver fox, like the most common kind here in Va. Thanks

Thanks cinderfire, its pretty healthy looking for sure.

Thanks Robyn-do you have anything like it by you?

Very trusting, Patti, like Laurajane's Trouble is becoming! Thanks.

Maybe he works up an appetite from storing lots of nuts, Maria. Winter will tell. Maybe the owners of the house feed him all winter, too.

mountain

He looks like he is not storing any of his nuts but eating them all as he finds them Thanks Dave

PLG1958

Wow, no zoom? Very trusting little guy!

robryan

He's so cute Dave!!

cinderfire

Such a good close up warbler. He's a handsome little fella.

Beekay

He does have a beautiful fox like tail.

warbler

Your certainly welcome, elf75. Thanks for stopping by!

There are a couple of big oak trees in this yard, lyndee and they appear to be his.

I think he expected me to feed him a nut, chookie, although he was still eating something when I took this.

This is the color of squirrel we had in Kansas, Ami and thats what we called them, there. Thanks

loveydear

I've never heard of a fox squirrel!

chookies

I just love that big bushy tail! I hope he's been squirreling away his nuts for the winter!!!

lyndee

Looks like he's packin' on the weight for the winter.

he is SO cute--thanks a bunch
