Morris the problem with taking a lovely sunset as you see it happens because your eyes can see many more stops then your camera so the way that they get those lovely sunsets, the ones you remember is by doing one of two things.
First they do multi shots, keeping the f-stop constant and varying the shutter speed, and join them together to form an image that you like or
Two. Use a graduated neutral density filter and expose a few stops more open to get the dark parts to become brighter. Nothing for a man of your caliber Morris.

How do you know that I don't delete 99.9 percent of mine morris? Don't be so hard on yourself. When I take a sunset, I take atleast 15 or 20 pics, then I go through them and pick out 1.
