Ank.. think I got it. It depends where you put beautiful before the noun mooie, after the noun mooi Right. So most of words like this follow the same logic. mooie meisje meisje is mooi

Thanks Patty, now I remember the puzzle. I never saw apple butter, we have apple syrup. I think it will taste about the same, apple syrup is more smooth as the apple butter.

The flower is beautiful - de bloem is mooi.
It is a beautiful flower - het is een mooie bloem.
The park is beautiful - het park is mooi.
BUT
It is a beautiful park - het is een mooi park.
tree: mooie boom - de boom is mooi.
girl: mooi meisje - het meisje is mooi.
So at the end it is always MOOI.
But when it comes before the noun it can be both.
Sigh sigh, languages, no Dutch is not easy.
