Husband and wife team Allen and Patty Eckman put paper pulp into clay moulds and pressurise it to remove the water

undefinedThe hard, lightweight pieces are then removed and the couple painstakingly add detailed finishings with a wide range of tools

They have been making the creations since 1987 at their home studio, in South Dakota, America, and have racked up a whopping ?3 million selling the works of art

The pieces depict traditional scenes from Native American history of Cherokees hunting and dancing

undefinedThe most expensive piece is called Prairie Edge Powwow which sold for ?47,000

Allen said: "We create Indians partly because my great, great grandmother was a Cherokee and my family on both sides admire the native Americans......I work on the men and animals and Patty does the women and children" explains Allen

I removed first comment as I typed it to hastly and didn't make it clear. Nice of you to reply!!! Goodmorning to you as well.

Not sure - however it's possible that the first mark ( ? 47,000 ) is a symbol for *pounds* but why they would refer to pounds in the artical when they live in the US is puzzling. Also the last I checked the pound is at 1.55 in dollars - which would suggest a price of $72,850.00 in dollars. WoW thats steep, still Prairie Edge Powwow is a very complicated and beautiful piece and this little one is very pretty as well. Thankyou for sharing.

windyhills .. I'm not sure myself .. but did think of pounds when I saw the price... But they are in the US so don't know...Nice to see you ...

Your welcome Ardy...

I see now that the first of that figure is a question mark not a 7 like I first thought. That makes more sense. Thanks.

pkin38

Ardy I don't know.. I did copy and paste the discription and how they make these.. If I do all of them I have enough for almost a year... Their work is gorgeous.. I think they meant $47000.00.. Don't know for sure... Hugs

This is very different and very beautiful. Was that figure 747,000 in dollars? I'm assuming the description is a "copy". Do you know what the"undefined" refers to?
Just curious. No strong need to know. Thanks for finding and sharing this art form.
