The Sound of Music is my daughter's all-time favorite movie. She will be 50 years old in February and saw it at the theater when it first came out. She, too, has the DVD and also watches it on tv each Christmas holiday. Funny how certain movies and songs hold special meaning for us. My grand-daughter's favorite has always been Mary Poppins...

Hi Luluk, now you'r talking my language,I must have seen that movie a 100 times, my Hubby bought me the Tape even, after we'v seen it the first time…. I thank you for the input…. and this goes to al of you …. I must say we had a 4 holler with devisers between each "seat"….. thanks God for modernization...

edlwis.320, each time I see your screen name I start humming the song, "Edelweiss", from the movie, The Sound of Music. It's such a lovely tune...

No marise1938, winter was best, it was'nt near as ripe as it got colder & the flies & spiders were in hibernation. Ours was a two holer & the old pulp western magazines were the best, the "Monkey Wards" & Sears catalogs were just too slick. Our phone was a long & two shorts & as soon as it quit ringing, every one on the line (6 other people) would pick up their reciever to see what the conversation was about. And if you wanted to know where so & so was, you just called the operator as she knew all about everybody, because all the calls went through her switch board. yes, those were the good old days, if you never had it, you did'nt miss it. A great photo of the old "half moon palace". There are still a few of them around & still in use.

Must have been awful in the winter!

Ours growing up was a two holler, one of each. Dose this mean that we are the older generation?

… and as I remember the wind jut blown you away some time …thanks for your comment Luluk !

Ours was a 3-holer...two tall and one short, almost like our crank phone...two long and one short. And, yes, they were the good old days.
