Tex, you are funny! That is a nice lid used as a birdbath. Good idea! Monica, thank you. Also thanks gnt and snooker. Snooker, yes, I imagine that the birds are trying to get a little warmth from the water. Not such a good idea, if you ask me.
There is a Japanese snow monkey that bathes in hot springs when it is snowing. The water is warmer than the air and that may be why. Could be the birds are doing the same thing.
Brrrrrrrrrr in such weather they bath to keep up their standards LOL good pic lauraj
I guess these birds don't care about the snow, or how cold it is there! You'd think they'd fly some where else that is a lot warmer! Very nice pic Laura, thanks again!
LJ, look at this idea for a birdbath. It looks to be homemade from a lid, and really is cute and a novel idea. http://www.jigidi.com/puzzle.php?id=4MLHLBXU
You know what they say, cleanliness is next to godliness! St. Francis of Litchfield, indeed, that's you!
Ha ha...that is just what I was thinking earlier, morris. They are macho-blackbirds, PG. You are most welcome, Nellies. I am so glad you stopped in today!
Great shot, they must belong to the polar bear, club!
One must keep up appearances, and a black bird should be a black bird even in all this white stuff.
Thank you laurajane for the lovely photo, but most of all for being such a kind mama to your feathered friends.
It's not a hot tub, but it's not ice cold, either. I have a heater element in there which keeps the water from freezing. My normal birdbath is on a pedestal, but due to a crack, I have the top part in the garage, keeping it from getting further damage in these cold temps. That leaves the one on the ground. One measely birdbath is not big enough for all my customers. Thank you for commenting, Pumpkin and Robyn!
Wow!! Tough birds!! Great photo Laura - thanks.
They look very cold. Unless, of course, you have provided them a hot tub?
