There is a Japanese snow monkey that bathes in hot springs when it is snowing. The water is warmer than the air and that may be why. Could be the birds are doing the same thing.
I guess these birds don't care about the snow, or how cold it is there! You'd think they'd fly some where else that is a lot warmer! Very nice pic Laura, thanks again!
LJ, look at this idea for a birdbath. It looks to be homemade from a lid, and really is cute and a novel idea. http://www.jigidi.com/puzzle.php?id=4MLHLBXU
Ha ha...that is just what I was thinking earlier, morris. They are macho-blackbirds, PG. You are most welcome, Nellies. I am so glad you stopped in today!
It's not a hot tub, but it's not ice cold, either. I have a heater element in there which keeps the water from freezing. My normal birdbath is on a pedestal, but due to a crack, I have the top part in the garage, keeping it from getting further damage in these cold temps. That leaves the one on the ground. One measely birdbath is not big enough for all my customers.
