there's a good idea in there somewhere Phyllis, send them all off to do a stint in the forces where they can aspire to be real heroes
Sounds just like my dad too. Yes I remember Newcastle United. We've always been a Man United or Newport County [they were well and truly relegated years ago] supporters. One of my uncles played for the Wolves and during WW2 he was not allowed to serve 'up the front' he had to be saved for the soccer. Probably wouldn't happen today I think!
remember Newcastle United? that's my team. My Dad had a 'scheme' for his pools, never worked though
Tym 4:45. Darlington is a name I know from when my late father did the Pools. I can see him now, sitting in bed on a Sunday morning with the wireless on, mum had brought him breakfast and he settled down with the Football results and poached eggs on toast:-))))
thank you Graciela
Beautiful picture! thanks
also travelling by bus
were the Jarrow Councillors
who got out at each stop
and led the parade into town
wonder who paid for their petrol and overnight stops, bet groundsheets weren't involved in this
