Middle-Her father's library
Bottom-Louisa May Alcott's room where she did most of her writing. "Little Women" was semi authobiographical and took place in this house. You can see her writing desk, the little oval structure built into the wall between the 2 windows. On the fireplace is the owl her sister May painted for her while Louisa recovered from typhoid fever she contracted while serving as a nurse during the Civil War.

We visited Orchard House on our visit to Concord, Massachusetts. Our guide had incredible knowledge of the Alcott family and all their friends, including Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Nathaniel Hawthorne.

I love her books, too. "An Old-Fashioned Girl" was my favorite. As a teen I read it many times. I'm going to get them from the library again. Who knows what happened to my copies:)

My favorite author as a child and still one of them. These are two of my favorite books too. I've been here a couple of times but it was a long time ago. Thanks for reviving the memories. Glad you got to see it.
