This is one of the original 12 cottages in the village, and dates from the late 15th century, though it was extended in the 16th and 17th centuries.
In the early 20th century, Sir Ernest Debenham acquired the village and added many more houses with the idea of turning it into a self-sufficient "model village", adding 40 new cottages.
