The roof collapsed on this old school and a lady local to Pioneer donated the funds to restore and save it. It was locked this day but looked ready to go on the inside through the windows.

Thanks Li-there are some good people out there!

I can see the playground you describe, Aggie, and the outhouses for sure! Thanks

aggie

A real beauty it is warbler. Happy to hear it was restored due to the kindness of this lady. The old one room I had gone to had been torn down many years ago. You don't see many of this kind anymore. Probably had swings and a teeter totter there too at one time, I would think. And an outhouse one to the left for the boys and the other to the right for the gals. Oh, those memories.

I'm so glad someone cared enough to fund this restoration, Dave. It was worth it. Very nice building. Thanks.

This could have been the school for Little House on the Prairie

Hey, Warbman! Good to see you, and see that you had some great photo ops. I love this old bldg. Thanks! (P.S. A couple years ago I got stuck for two months in a little town in Neb. (McCook) for my work. Saw a lot of farm stores & corn!)

warbler

It was dbnc, we need more of that. Thanks.

Good to see you Floyd, I thought about you when I saw this. I got photos of two other old schools, also. Thanks

Thank you Dave for sharing your old country school picture. Brings back memories of the old schools.

what a nice thing that lady did

OK Suzy!!

Hi Patti. Glad you liked it. Oops, loved it. :-))

Cool memory, Sandy. I started school in a "big" town in Nebr.(pop. -1980 people) and we had city school so I missed out on this experience.

The one I went to had a big ole pot belly stove that the teacher set a can of soup on just before lunch.

Its nice to see a classic saved Suzy. Local lady does do good!

There was even a stool in the corner with a dunce hat on it, Sandy-Ol' Warbler wudda felt rite at home.

Your right Lyndee-I saw so much loss and deteroration in every small town and larger ones, too. It was sad but a good photo opportunity.

lyndee

Another nice puzzle warbler. I'm glad somebody came up with money to have it restored. Too many old buildings are getting torn down when they don't really have to.

chickiemama

Wow, too bad you didn't get to go inside. It's a neat old school house.

Bravo for the local lady. Bravo to you for another good shot of America. Can't wait for the rest of your midwest tour.
