Oops! I missed your follow up comment Pat! And thank you. That's right. Mischievous Jan started it, and then tried to blame me!! Look out, she'll be pushing Robbie off his perch of naughtiest kid in Jigidi!! LOL
Jan, I'm sorry to point this out, but it was NOT Kirsten who started it, but YOU, with your very first comment about quadriptych! So you have only yourself to blame! Of course, that means that we have you to thank for all the fun with this name-game! :-)))
PJ - Your English is better than Kirsten's Australian and my American versions of English!
I think 'Kal-tych' is good!
Doing more research (I have no idea why), I have found that there is a more general term used for multiple panel artworks. It is POLYPTYCH. However, "TYCH" means fold and these art pieces were usually hinged. So, we could avoid these difficult words altogether and simply call them kaleido panels or "Kaleidos X 4" or QuadKals. LOL
Copy and paste is fine, and it's a wondrous word - but what about us who will have to try reading it? OK, English is not my first language, so I suggest 'kal-tych'.... PJ
You are such an innovator Jan! First you invent kaleido boards, a whole new genre for Jigidi. And now a quadriptych!!! Brilliant!! And I LOVE the name, and think you should keep it.
Or you could run a competition for your fans to find a new word. They're a clever bunch your fans, with some real wordsmiths amongst them. And some imaginative folks, who make it up as they go along, but sell it so convincingly, that it's totally believable!!
I'd like to kick things off with a kaleidotetraptych!!!
Thank you so much, Judy! Coming from such a talented puzzler as yourself, I am very flattered! Now that Christmas is over, I will be experimenting more.
There are four halves here, right? And one puzzle, right? Therefore, 4 halves + one whole.
I've been wondering who the dog is in this avatar. Please don't tell me it's Maggie with both eyes made white. And while all the changes have been cute and great and delightful, I'm ready for smiling Maggie to come back.
