Fruit smoothie #8 - Salmonberries

They're very similar to raspberries but don't taste like them. They have a milder taste.

They look like yellow raspberries--do they taste similar? They look yummy. My mouth is watering.

Rob, they grow wild in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, especially on the coast. When I used to live at the coast, they were everywhere. I have no idea where else they grow. And rest assured they don't taste like salmon! It seems they're called that because the Native Americans use to eat them with salmon or salmon roe. And I'm glad you enjoyed the puzzle.

This is a new one to me too!! Do they only grow in your area Deborah? Does the name only refer to the colour? I'd hate to think what they tasted like if it was named after the flavour!!! Thanks - it's a really nice puzzle.
