Why are you reporting this puzzle?

My cousin hatched some mixed standard eggs and became very attached to this roo. Since he began crowing and she's in an area where she's not even allowed to keep chickens it was either I take him or he'd be soup. She brought a hen along with him and they are living in the quail pen as of yesterday. He's super friendly.

Thanks Michelle. They both came already named so that was easy for me. I can see my cousin is so hooked on chickens that I wouldn't be surprised if she started looking for a new place to live where she would be allowed to keep them and possibly take Billy and Kiki back.

I giggled over his name. Heroic personality? I just can't see him as a flying ace, for some reason....;-)

Mind you, hubby says that as Bishop got older, he kinda looked like this guy. He was chuckling at this too.

I did Dagmar it was a wonderful day and Saturday I'm putting everyone to work. I still need the downed trees from the December storm cut up so that's on the agenda :-))

Dohun

He looks his name with his black feathers and red crest. :)))

I hope you had a very agreeable birthday yesterday and I hope that your big gathering won't be too boisterous. :)) Have fun, enjoy the company, let them spoil you for a day and demand some presents. LOL

:-))

Thank you for telling me the new hen's name and sharing the legend of Kikimora.
With your kindness, I am sure she will behave nicely, lol,
PJ

Thanks everyone. Like I said, I need another rooster like I need root canal work. Two of the last three Dusk and Squeaky are roosters as well. This guy used to come in with her at night and perch on her feet while she watched TV. I just didn't have the heart for her to have to do him in which was her only option. They're both already coming out of the quail pen and spending time scratching around in the back area. I can go up to him and pick him up, no problem so he is well behaved. As long as they don't fly the fence they're ok for now. My cousin said if someone comes along who will take them both for a farm home she's ok with me letting them go. So now there's 4 roosters I need to find homes for (☉▾☉)

Oh boy!!! You softie you.... A new rooster.... Bet there will be some good tales to tell soon with him around... He's a good looking addition and will probably behave him self, mostly... As he carries the same name as the best dog I ever owned.... (Not Billy, but Bishop) Thanks, Edie.... (。◕‿◕。)

Welcome Billy Bishop. Your lady friend sure has a beautiful name and legend to live up to. You've landed in the lap of chicken luxury young man so you had better be grateful. Edie is the best Mom around and you'll enjoy all of her tender care.

katwoody99

Tell him hello for me, Edie!

niccolino59

Well, he looks handsome! (My maiden name was Bishop!)

mipahollo1

This is great Edie. He is a handsome fellow and I look forward to meeting his lady, Kikimora! ☺

He's a real mixed bag PJ, and I don't remember what the mix is but the farmer where she got the eggs has all kinds of hens and roosters running loose together. I emailed my cousin as to the name of the hen and this is what she wrote back.
And the girl with Billy Bishop is Kikimora, the old lady spirit who hides behind the stove, scolds you for not having a clean kitchen and will guard over your chickens even if you don't have any. I think it is a Ukrainian legend.

2dogs7cats

I'd give him a 4 out of 10 on the rooster 'handsomeness' scale Jan. LOL

puzzlejan

Oh Edie - welcome to this new rooster, and he does look "the Bishop", lol. I was just wondering about the hen.... and I won't say a word about women being nameless with significant males around... lol.
What kind is he?
It will be interesting to hear about their life on your farm...
PJ

JiggyBelle

He is a handsome roo, too! Keep us updated! Thanks, Edie.

2dogs7cats

We'll see as he gets older if he's a top scorer or not Faye ;-))

gemstone

Well...if his name is Billy Bishop, he must be a top scorer! LOL

Thanks everyone for the welcome for Billy. I certainly didn't need another rooster here since I've already go too many. I just felt so bad that my cousin couldn't find anyone to take him and was going to end up in trouble with the neighbours. She brought him in every night to sleep so that he wouldn't crow early in the morning. Right now he's not a problem it will be in the winter that things may change. This picture is one my cousin sent me a few days ago before bringing him down. I haven't taken any of the two of them myself. The hen looks just the same only a little smaller and no comb.

Happy to meet your new arrival, Edie, and am glad to hear he is friendly. :-)

ringleader

Welcome Billy Bishop. I'm glad to meet you. I'm glad you are friendly as I want to meet you in person. Your and your hen are very fortunate to end up where you are. You will get the best of care. Watch out for hawks though. Thanks, Edie. Nice to meet one of your new residents.

JM_Cookie

He looks bold as brass :-)

wshealy

Great postings, as always, Edie. Do you have a picture of the hen Billy Bishop brought with him?

Francamia

Chickens also make a good childs pet.........

goingsilver

He's a handsome fellow and along with the hen is very lucky to have found a home with you Edie.
