If this was the house I wanted & I designed it & somebody built it & I could pay for it, I'd be happy. But it's fine that none of those is true. Well, if the money part were true, I could pay for something simpler. I confess, though, I'd have been wide-eyed with its wondrous-ness when I was 10.
Looks like a castle. Strange, no windows to speak of.
Not my style, but it is pretty.
I just checked a map. All this time I thought Sleepy Hollow was in the Albany area, and I find out it's a suburb of Tarrytown, across the Hudson from Nyack. What a disappointment - it's practically in New York City!
A petite pretender for prosperous but pompous people, perhaps?
I believe this to be an 'owner' designed home where he (or she) knew what he wanted, had the money to back up his ideas and didn't particularly care about the concepts of design. It'd be interesting to see the front of the house to determine if it appears more balanced from that angle.
There's something cathedral-like about this building. I don't get the unhappy vibe but to me there is a sense of waiting.
Unusual architectural mix of church, castle and mansion about it which don't seem to sit comfortably together I think.
Maybe everybody is SLEEPING that's why it looks deserted. Thanks Dave.
Very beautiful mansion, Dave :) Thanks!
It looks a bit like a movie set Dave - & a bit spooky! Maybe it's the shadows!!
I feel exactly the same way as Beekay.
Is this an empty home Warbler? There is something about the house that is 'unhappy' feeling to me.
You hit the nail on the head PutterDutt........It reminds me of the wedding cake I had made for my daughters wedding back in 1986............
Not many windows - must be dark inside.
It looks a bit like a fantasy wedding cake! Beautiful. Nice find, Warbs!
