My pleasure, Islandflyer. It is very fascinating to look back, I agree.

Interesting ad for sure. The devastating health effects of smoking have been publicized in schools for over 40 years but that doesn't stop some people from picking up the habit and then suing the cigarette makers. Still a fascinating look at the ad campaigns back then. Thanks for posting it, ts.

I agree, Maryrob!

I like this photo, Good or wrong?

Adbartolo and Pat, you are very fortunate that you never did it. It's nasty, deadly and most addicting. My Mother, who had never smoked, tried and tried to tell me, but I was so much smarter than she was, I did it anyway! Made me look so glamorous, ha, ha!

I had a discussion about it once with a psychologist who specialized in addiction, and he said that smoking was the hardest one to give up. I'm glad I never got into it!

Yes, my husband, who has lost and maintained a 100 lb. weight loss for 25 years quit smoking 20 years ago. He said it was ten times harder to quit smoking than quit eating. I had to clean the mirrors and windows in our house growling up. Thank GOD I had that chore, because all the tar that came off on the cleaning rags, especially in my Mom's bedroom where she smoked a lot, was so disgusting that I never wanted to smoke!

You're so right, Adbartolo. Hopelessly addicted in most cases. Hardest thing in the world to do is quit. Ray Charles once said he thought it was as hard giving up cigarettes as heroin.

A real Oldie, Sis! Thanks!

A study was released earlier this week that links cigarette smoking to Alzheimer's Disease, saying that smoking literally "rots" your brain. My Mom was a smoker for 40 years and even though she had quit for twenty years before she died, she passed away after a horrible, ten-year battle with Alzheimer's. And so did Ronald Reagan. I can understand how folks smoked before they knew how bad it was, but anyone still smoking today is either hopelessly addicted or has a death wish.

A nasty habit. I'm glad it's no longer the cool thing to do.

You're dead right, chickie - he was young there!
