Yes, it does look like a cedar, but I was so focused on the roots that I forgot to look upward. Thanks, everyone, for commenting. I love to read what you all say!

There were plenty of cedars up there (on the rock) but also some other trees including small oaks. This does kinda look like cedar though.

And they do grow on rock.
