Hey John, my younger brother is in Pembrokeshire as I write... with Mum and Dad's ashes I might add.
Not nice!! ;-))
Ah - flies and mosquitoes... we know all too well here in the Deep South!
Here's a link re clegs, Phyllis. Not very exciting, I'm afraid. LOLhttp://www.influentialpoints.com/Gallery/Horseflies_Clegs_and_Deerflies.htm
I did work a lot around Scotland and lived in Tobermory for a few years with a lassie ( not a dog BTW!!) I was fishing for scallops while I was there.Hope that cough clears soon and, if it doesn't, get back to the Doc! Breuddwydion melys, Phyllis
Thanks to you both I'm enjoying hearing "Kate" - it must resonate with my Anglo roots!!Now, what are mozzies and cleggs?!
78 Queen Street, Castle Douglas, in the Stewartry of Dumfries. Len and I went there in 2000, I tried to imagine my mother there, young, she had just turned 20. My dad in camp at Lockerbie, preparing to go to North Africa, her mother had died and expecting her first baby mum felt quite alone. One of many women in the same situation I'm sure. They were difficult days for all. Where were you in Scotland, were you working there?I'll never forget the morning we drove from CD ro Stranrar where we caught the Ferry for Ireland. The mist rolled down the hillside enveloping the cattle, and the trees which looked like there was a lace curtain falling down to cover them. Sorry you have the rain, we have the frosts, snow down the South Island at the weekend, I bet that was cold. I've never heard of 'cleggs'. Gone midnight and I'm off to my bed, this cough has left me very tired, so it's been early nights for a few days now. Now you look after yourself ok! Nos da Phyllis
What sun, Phyllis!! It's been raining for days. Luckily we don't get mozzies here. I remember the "cleggs" and mozzies when I lived in Scotland!! Where were you born in Scotland?
Thanks Kate! I love the name I have a g'grandmother named Kate and granddaughter too. I'm named for my grandmother and I've been called Phyl all my life untill recent years when my youngest brother, Peter, and I were talking about using the names we have been given, so I decided then I would introduce myself as Phyllis... my other name is ok, but I prefer my second one really, and like you like it when I'm addressed by the name I prefer. Oh dear, did they lose again John... you know me I get to hear about both wins and losses well after the event. Bluebells in and now awaiting the top layer, a mixture of compost, post-peelings and something else [I know not what] but it looks good. I've been offline since Saturday evening, my pc is so slow, cannot wait for Aaron to bring the other one up and install it for me. Anyway, I must away to make coffee for him and for me. Don't get caught in the sun, and watch out for the mozzies. DPP :-)
Glad you had such a nice evening, Kate. The cookout sounds fun!! LOL
Aw that will be grand!! Just got back from an evening cookout at my sister's - fun visit with her, her hubby, his brother, and their two dogs. The new dog, Lacey, is a great addition to the family - black Lab mix, not quite a year old, full of energy and a real sweetheart!
Oh, well, I'll be calling you Kate from now on, Kathy!! LOL
Phyllis - that's how the other two got me into the crazy monster puzzles! My competitive nature couldn't resist the challenges!! :-DDDPS - I love you calling me Kate, even if accidental! Only one other person has ever done so; it's my favorite though! :-DDD
Well done, Phyllis! If you haven't watched the Chief's match yet - best not to bother!! :-((((
Well Kate, how could I resist that challenge - did and managed to get onto the leaderboard too, no where near the 'Magnificent Three' though:-)) or should put DDD
thanks, kathy! have a lovely day!!
