Thank a Mailman Day is your chance to say thanks to the guy, or gal, who delivers your mail. After all, they are there six days a week. The reliable postal worker is always there doing their job, regardless of the weather. They are a hardy lot. You'll find some mail carriers on walking routes, wearing shorts in all but the coldest of winter days.

Pony Express riders were the most famous early American "mailmen". Their motto was " Neither rain, nor snow, nor death of the night, can keep us from our duty". This motto is believed to be taken in part from a motto dating back to ancient times. Among the most popular variation is "Through rain or snow, or sleet or hail, we'll carry the mail. We will not fail".

Make it a point to catch your mail carrier enroute today. Give him or her a great big smile and a great big "TY". If you happen to visit your local post office, give them a thank you, too.

My mail finally came at 7:40 p.m. That's the latest it's ever been!

monza006

Oh Katie, perhaps you just didn't have anything for him to deliver today??? I can't imagine he would still be working at this late hour!!

buckeye425

Mandy, at 7:15 p.m. my mail carrier hasn't been here yet! Now I have the porch light on...

lelabugosi

Glad to be of assistance.......

monza006

Ahhhh, thanks Lela, that neatly clears up my misunderstanding :~)

In answer to your question, no.6-at-the-racetrack.......We have had a lot of problems with our carrier-pigeon service in Bonga-Bonga, so Pat's mailboxes seemed to offer a solution to our backlog of Christmas cards........

Mandy - a gorgeous puzzle, and thank you for the interesting information. I've never seen our local mail 'carrier' - but we make a point of being nice to the ones who visits our workplace...

Katie, I hope it didn't take you too long to clear, and that your mail carrier was grateful... for your clearing the snow, and your thanks!!

buckeye425

Great puzzle Mandy! Now, I'd better get outside to clear the snow for my mail carrier!

monza006

Thanks Wendy, it's good to hear you appreciate your postperson!! :~)

monza006

Thaks Lela - however, if you are a postperson... how come you so often try to post letters in Pat's letterboxes????

I can live without all the CEOs that get paid millions each year, but I sure couldn't live without the postman. I think this collection is TERRIFIC!

lelabugosi

Don't all thank me at once...Hee-Hee!.................

monza006

Good one ... I had no idea what day it was when I posted my puzzle...

monza006

Thanks Grandmalucy, Barb and Ardy - I'm delighted you are enjoying this series, I am trying to mix the silly with the serious and to avoid food celebrations every day!!!! :~)

Mandy, Thanks for this series. It's not only lots of fun but also full of useful information, like today.

This one doesn't seem quite so wacky as some celebrations, Mandy. It's seems only fair to thank the postman once in awhile considering all the different types of weather in which he/she has to deliver the mail. Here in Canada we have delivery 5 days a week not 6 as in the US.
Thanks, Mandy for another Who Knew puzzle. :-)

you know the stamp goes around the world but stays in one place.
