Not my photo.
Highland Park in Rochester, was known first as the "Flour City" due to its mills. More recently, it is known as the "Flower City" as it is known for its annual Lilac Festival in Highland Park.

My thoughts, exactly, Pamcal!
Thank you mariolyn, warbler and foxy!
Yes, Laura...a good change in names.
You are so right, Ardy! Hope it brings back some good memories of Rochester for you!

There are over 500 varieties of lilacs here. I really enjoyed this the year I taught in Rochester. And have visited several times since.

Gorgeous flowers! Thanks, Suzy :-)

That is a nice change-over in city names, punkie! I much prefer the second name. These lilacs get me all excited to see my tiny little lilac bushes come to life (hopefully) in the spring! I will definitely be showing them off. I just planted them last spring. They are so small. I hope they survived the winter.

warbler

Your right Pumpkin, there's nothing to compare to a vase full and their fragrance!

mariolyn

Ooooh, lilacs! And such a lovely color too.

What a beautiful sight to see the night before a blizzard!

Thanks Mary and Chickie. There is nothing to compare to a vase full of freshly cut lilacs. We have a number of bushes in our yard, and it's just such a marvelous smell that hits you when you walk through the yard.

I would love to have a vase of those next to me on the desk right now. Thanks Suzy.
