Happiness Happens Day aims to spread the joy of being happy, and to persuade people to look on the brighter side of life. Happiness is contagious, so if you're happy, tell someone! If someone else is happy, listen to them!
According to C.S. Lewis, "Affection is responsible for nine-tenths of whatever solid and durable happiness there is in our lives."
Founded in 1999 by the Secret Society of Happy People as “Admit You’re Happy Day”, Happiness Happens Day is celebrated each year on August 8. This day was created to recognize and express happiness. August 8 was chosen as it is the anniversary of the first membership in 1998. The society encourages members to recognize their happy moments and think about happiness in their daily life. Their main purpose is to stimulate people’s right to express their happiness.
