texasstar7: This is in North Idaho, while we are outside of Rathdrum, a small town, we are still fairly residential--5-7 acre lots. No, you can't just run out and yell to chase them off...they just look at you, they aren't afraid of much. My basset hounds try to chase them off but are pretty much ignored. Some neighbors use BB guns, but I don't agree with that. and yes, they pretty much get all of our apples. We could put an 8ft fence around the trees as some neighbors have done, but this is a view from my kitchen table and I don't want that...I'll just let them have them. Once the apples are gone, they move on to the next yard but make periodic visits all winter to munch on the smaller branches and shrubs.
So where is this? And how do you get rid of them? Can you just run outside and yell and they run off? So many questions! This is amazing. As big as they are, he could eat a lot of apples and you won't have any left at all.
