This is a bit the skyline of Old Downtown Ames. Were going to cross here and see if we can take in part of this Downtown that dates in part to the late 1800's. Lets look to the left first to see...

Thanks Marmar, me too. I remember when it was like that everywhere.

Like the angle parking.

Photo ops everywhere, Sandy. I thought it would be a skip and a jump from Effingham but it was 9 hours on the interstate at 70mph.

chickiemama

This looks like all the towns around here in southern Illinois.

Cool Laura--I wish we could have gone to Litchfield! So little time...

Beekay-I hadn't even noticed that. Isn't that nice!

Angled parking! I hadn't noticed that either roseheather. That does bring back memories!

I hope you have fun seeing Ames, cinderfire. There will be a couple of good stories coming up too. And indeed the price is right.:)))

Four a day is what jigidi allows, Maria so tomorrow starts: to the left...

mountain

love the parking spots right in front of the shoppe's. It looks like a neat place to live. We will be waiting for the other side now......................

cinderfire

Thx for taking us along warbler, it's fun and a cheaper way to travel. Ha ha.

Simply stated, on one awning: Men's Shoes. I like the angle parking. It is a reminder of the past. So few places have that now.

I have noticed in my state, MI, that the further north and west the downtown areas have less tall buildings. It looks like it was expedient to get a store building built and in operation

Beekay

No power lines :-))))

laurajane

This looks a lot like Litchfield, Warbler. Good mid-western shot!

warbler

Good wigma! Were just starting and I can tell you there will be some sights and a couple of stories as we go!

Its a very viable part of Ames, lyndee and most of the buildings are on a historical register.

lyndee

It looks nice and clean and well kept.

wigma

I'm ready for another warbler adventure.
