Thank you, Roseheather. I guess you'd really have to know what you were doing if you wanted to convert a silo into something else then, to make it safe.

Silo construction is very sturdy. I don't know about making a cottage from one. I do know that silos can be very hazardous for farmers when they are filling them. There have been accidental asphyxiations, for famers, from the gases produced by the fermenting forage that is put into silos.
Those blue Harveststore silos, which dot the rural landscape, will be there forever. I think the material for those are ceramic tile, but I am not sure.
Thank you, one and all, for your comments. When everything else is done, I wonder what one could do with the leftover silo??? Make a cottage out of it???
