Cycling Around Singapore - Wasser Zylinder (2008) by Bernard Frank (Germany)
Wasser Zylinder is German for water cylinder. The 3 water cylinders, seen here, are 1.8m in diameter. They connect the shores of Marina South and Marina East symbolically. The to-and-fro movement of the cylinders represents the communication between the two shores. This gentle ebb-and-flow movement contrasts with the tidal surge of the water disgorged by the crest gates framing the scale and might of the project. The artist took inspiration from children's toys, adorning his stainless steel cylinders with cheerful colors.
