P-51 Mustang. The greatest fighter plane of all time. When German Luftwaffe head Hermann Goring saw P-51s in the sky over Berlin in 1945 he said, "When I saw Mustangs over Berlin, I knew the jig was up."

The P-51 Mustang is the only propeller aircraft in history to shoot down two jet fighters (German 262s) in a single engagement. As late as 1969 (!) P-51 Mustangs flew in combat in something called The Soccer War between El Salvador and Honduras, an actual war which was fought over a disputed outcome in a soccer match!
