My only clue is the new looking roof, Jacki.

My father went to one in the early 1900's in Eastern Colorado where his parents were homesteading My first school was in the late 50's in a small town but it was a bigger brick school.

Too bad it looks like this. Our grandsons had the first couple of years school in a 2-room school. This year they started in the big school and it is a change for them.

My mom taught in a one-room school house, MN in 30's-early 40's.

What a great story Jacki! Thank you for telling it!

Fascinating roof line. It's a really pretty building. I went to a two room school, nursery school through 3rd grade, but with only one teacher. She'd set the older ones to a sort of independent study in one room and then work with the younger ones, including me. Then set us up with something we could do independently and go in and work with the others. And I would trail along behind her to find out what exciting things were happening in the big kids room. Net result was that I learned to read by 3 years old. Drove my dad crazy because he couldn't get away with skipping any words when he read me a bed time story.

warbler

Yes, with Capital H's just as you say. :-))

Too bad it's all boarded up. It's a great little building! I bet it had a long history...but we'll never know.

I can just picture the children being around Patti, ahhh the days were different then. Thanks

BUt a new roof smllpkg, someone is keeping it alive. It would be interesting and good puzzles to see the ones by you turned into houses.

Neat memory, Shirley. Thanks

Always nice to see you Robyn! Happy New Years your way as well.

An oldie but still showing its style Dave:)) I too went to a one-room and one-teacher school in the 50's!!! It was brick and stone and I went to the 150th anniversary back in 2010 - I think!!! Grey moment here:)))) Happy New Year to you and the family Dave!!!

Beautiful old school, I went to a one-room school in the late 40's and into the 50's it was on high stumps and not as ornate as this one, good to reminisce, Thanks, Dave.

Aw.w.w.w.w! All boarded up. Love all the details on this old school. Would be nice if someone repurposed it. Off hand, there are two that I can think of around here that have become people's homes.

Wonderful! Fun to imagine it years ago with children coming ans going. My dad attended a one-room in the 30's. Thank you, WD!
