Tra-la-la, tweedlee dee dee it gives me a thrill To wake up in the morning to the mockin' bird's trill Tra-la-la, tweedlee dee dee There's peace and goodwill You're welcome as the flowers on Mockin'bird Hill When the sun in the mornin' peeps over the hill And kisses the roses 'round my windowsill Then my heart fills with gladness when I hear the trill Of those birds in the treetops on Mockin'bird Hill When it's late in the evenin' I climb up the hill And survey all my kingdom while everything's still Only me and the sky and an old whippoorwill Singing songs in the twilight on Mockin'bird Hill Got a three cornered plow and an acre to till And a mule that I bought for a ten dollar bill There's a tumble-down shack and a rusty old mill, But it's my home sweet home up on Mockin'bird Hill
We still own a few on her recordings (LP's) thank you for posting a remembrance of such a talented, classy lady.
In 1998, she told The New York Times, ?I?m sure there are a lot of things I should have done differently. But I don?t think I?ve stepped on anyone along the way. If I have, I didn?t mean to.?Wow. What a human being!
The following was from a newspaper article: "She was 85 and just five weeks away from being honored at the Grammy Awards with a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Recording Academy." According to the article, she knew about the upcoming award and was preparing to receive it. I think it's great at least she had a chance to know about that. Yes, she played a major musical role in my teen years, that's for sure.
Thanks, M. O. I've been singing her songs ever since I heard about her passing. :/
A beautiful voice. Thanks for the tribute, oddio.
I had no idea either...my Mom loved her, so I grew up listening to her music! Lovely voice, RIP Patti, Thanks Mr O!
Thanks for that puzzle oddio she was a great one and lovely person I had the pleasure :)
I hadn't heard that we lost her. Thank you, Oddio. She was wonderful.
She was one of the great ones.
Thanks, Oddio. Is it just me over thinking, or have we lost many talented musicians over the last few months?
