Ooooh in Burlington..I must have passed it then. Our son lives in Hamilton and we go there a few times per year. Going to look it up on Google. Thanks for the info.
Ladywill, René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle (1643-1687) was a French explorer. La Salle travelled from France to Quebec, in late 1667. He was determined to find a water passage to the east through North America. Leaving Montreal in July, 1669, La Salle explored the Great Lakes Ontario, Erie, Michigan, Huron, the Ohio valley, the Mississippi Valley, and the Gulf of Mexico. At the very west end of Lake Ontario La Salle landed in Aldershot Ontario at a location we today call LaSalle Park. La Salle made many exploring trips during his years. He was the first to sail down the Mississippi and so claimed the entire area for France, in the end he was murdered in 1687 near Navasota Texas.
So this LaSalle Park is in Burlington Ontario, across the bay from Hamilton Ontario.
