Recognize the chittering ,Goofie does it too, but only to the things he can't reach like a fly on the ceiling or a butterfly resting above him in the sun, a small bird on the high fence etc. I think they chitter to concentrate or maybe it's just wining it's too high or out of reach!?:))

It's really funny - I think he's trying to persuade them that he just wants to play - either that or he's trying to impersonate them!

Interesting about the chittering at birds - Bandit does it and I had one other cat that did it. Others didn't do it. The little mouth goes a mile a minute and they are so intent on the bird.

I've heard of cats chittering at bird, but none of my kitties have ever done that. I hope to see it in action one day. Please give Ash a chin-chucking for me. :)

Thanks! Ash isn't terribly vocal - he will nag me to get his food, hurry up and open the door etc. He's at his most vocal, though, watching the birds from the window. Then he tries to click and chirrup at them!
