These are indeed catkins Roseheather. We call them "katjes" . This ones are alder-catkins, I believe I also saw some hazel-catkins yesterday.

Now, there`s a question Fodus. I`m not certain.

This looks like something we refer to as catkins. We won't be seeing them for a while yet. ; )

Wow! Do these break up and cause a lot of mess? Or do they just drop off? What kind of tree is it?
