Out playing with the long zoom lens yesterday and now coveting a big gun lens. LOL Even with the 200mm, it was hard to get close to most of the birds out in their natural environment. (Perhaps an extender will go on the wish-list!) That being said, I am really pleased with being able to get these shots at all!

The marshy area, north of the part of the city in which we live, was teeming with male Red Winged Blackbirds. In Canada, they are often one of the first harbingers of spring (usually are here before the Robins). The males return from their migration early to stake out territory and start to sing their hearts out in defense of it. It doesn't appear that the females have arrived yet.
