....but I bet there's family and friends that care about you Trish :)))) You're not a recluse are you? :)))) Thanks for the link - I've just had a quick look & put it on my 'favourites' list - I'll definitely be going there for a looky-see!! Not that I like looking at E-coli or lung cancer cells particularly!!!!! Lots of other interesting stuff though!!!
Wow! I'm pleased that was you and not me Jan! We had a dog like that once - she went through Cyclone Althea in Townsville as a pup and that kicked off her phobia!!! And mine!!!! Now the cat hates thunder and hides under the bed base (it's a real squeeze, but she gets there!).
I hate them too Trish - but our house is fully screened so they don't bother us too much! Oh - YUK, YUK, YUK!!! How horrible!! Fancy having no family and no-one to miss you!! That's sad!
a fly with spats? i would love to make him go splatz. ah hates flies!!! reminds me of our late neighbor that no one knew had expired for a couple of months or so. gag! lots of flies everywhere. double gag! yikes!
Yes, Rob, we sure did! Went to The Gap for a barbecue with my daughter and it was really wild driving home, lightning all the way, debris over the road - and a scared border collie waiting for us at home (the little one is deaf so didn't care!). But we did need the rain and now waiting hopefully for more. (Glad we didn't get the hail, though!)
LOL!! That's what I love about Jigidi Floyd - people's wacky sense of humour!!!! I'd never have thought of that:)))
You can keep him Jan:))) You know - I never took much notice of flies until I aimed a zoom lens at them!! I've found iridescent ones, black & white stripped ones, march flies, and lots of other similar bugs that are totally new to me!!! Wasps maybe? Who knows!! Did you get much rain yesterday & today? We had 15mm last night & the same just after lunch today!! We even had hail today - about the size of a 5 cent piece.
Rob, I think your fly came over to visit me! When I was putting out the bird seed yesterday I spotted this identical fly sunning itself on the post and was immediately fascinated by the stripes and the aerodynamic shape of the wings. Like you I left it alone - and hoped it wasn't a biter!
Hi chillydilly - I took this on quite a warm day and he/she was pretty lazy! I never swat them - they are in the back garden & I just leave them alone to do their thing as they don't land on me, and there aren't many of them! Thanks for dropping by.
LOL!!! Neat poem Mary!!! Yikes - I'm hoping there's no typhoid around here!! Maybe it was written when sanitation left a lot to be desired :))) Thanks!!
The early fly is the fly to swat. It comes around before it's hot, It sits around & files its' legs & lays about ten million eggs. And every egg will make a fly to give us typhoid by & by. Auther unknown.
I'm surprised he/she? posed long enough for you to take the picture. Even though they don't have a lot going for them, they do perform a necessary function and this one is actually quite striking in black and white pinstripes and polka dots, white shoes and gossamer wings. That said, I'd have smacked him, too.
