Susie, a long time ago I saw a Nat Geo special about the cenotes in the Yucatan, where divers were going to all the cenotes and looking to solve mysteries of some sort. I forget what all they were doing but they did notice that a lot of them were in a semicircle and somehow related to the Chixilub impact site of 65 million years ago.
Anyway, I have gone on lots of comercial cave tours but never gone to a cenote. I would go to this one and swim if they allow it.
Have you heard of this amazing place before, JC? I have other shots where people are swimming in the sacred cenote (pronounced "seh-NO-tay"--means like a pit or sink hole), but this one really shows off the incredible "azul" of the water :o)
