Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Mr Murphy having a little down time. This morning I had to take a baby bird out of his mouth again. He didn't seem to hurt it, so I placed it in the grass and brought Murf inside for a while. Then later the bird was gone. Hoping for the best!

This cat is obsessed with birds. He even drinks out of the birdbath, rather than the TWO dishes of water I put down for him. Taken Sun, July 6 , 2014 in Litchfield, IL.

Aww! Good boy, Murf! A bird banged itself into my patio windows yesterday, LJ. Tasha went straight for it but I told her to leave it and I picked it up and nursed it in my hands. I think it was a young thrush as it had a white speckled chest. I thought it's neck was broken because it wouldn't move it's head. I held it gently and talked to it, stroking its head all the while. It began to look more alert, move its head a little, then I could feel it's feet pushing against my hand so I knew it was ready. I went over to the garden fence and opened my hands and it flew. While I hate it when they bash into the windows, it's an amazing experience to hold them and nurse them for a while until they get their senses back and then see them fly away. If I hadn't have been there, Tasha would have had it for sure. I wasn't able to get my camera as it was indoors and I couldn't leave the bird, and there was no one else around to ask to take a picture, but I have a lovely memory of it.

Awesome set of whiskers!

Aww, thanks, you guys! I enjoy your comments and take your advice to heart. Murphy has been a little furry blessing to me. So far my allergies are under control, as he is out most of the time. Thanks, everyone!

See, I'll show you how to relax, nothing to it. quite at home.

Graciela

He is beautiful Laura! you got the bird on time, that's all that matters!

cinderfire

Mr. Obsessive is so handsome so you can't stay upset with him. ;^))

Plumpossum

It has been my experience that when more than one water source is available, an animal will choose one and NEVER use the other(s), unless there is absolutely no alternative and thirst overcomes his inhibitions.

Spricey

Dear LauraJane - just remembering back to how this all started. A stray who was not allowed in the house? And now look at who is Lord and Master of All LauraJane Land? You are such a sweet loving lady to put his needs before your allergies. Blessings to you☺♥

ringleader

I was thinking like Snooker that birds may have been his diet before he found and adopted you. My cement bird bath crumbled during this past winter so it doesn't hold water. Fluffy likes to sleep in it especially in the evening when it's still warm from the sun. Murphy is a big and beautiful cat. How are you and your allergies doing around him? Thanks for posting this.

goingsilver

He certainly knows the art of chilling out. Such a handsome boy.

He looks right at home Laura!! Layla brings small lizards & skinks inside to show us - she never kills them or even breaks their skin with her teeth!! Cats will be cats:))))

abel

Lord of all he surveys!! He is a beautiful looking cat, laurajane. :-)

eaglefeather

Drinking out of the birdbath is it going to be a posting? :-))
Lovely cat!

SunnyBarb25

Murphy looking perfectly relaxed :) He is so very pretty, Laura :)))

PLG1958

What a great kitty!!! He looks big!!!

pumpkinhead

Sleek looking Mr. Murphy! Lucky you, Laura!
Cats will be cats when it comes to critters. Just the way it is.
Do love the fact that he drinks out of the birdbath! ☺

He is very beautiful, Laura. yes, just doing the natural thing! Good that he doesn't hurt the birds. My daughter's big puss, Pippy, used to catch quails on the airstrip behind our house, so we tried a collar with a bell. He managed to lose the bell, tried another bell, that one was mysteriously crushed! Then the whole collar vanished! We gave up. He never hurt them, just brought them into the house and let them go! Do you know how fast a scared quail can run! LOL.

Thanks and hugs, janet

Gladstone

Mr. Murphy looks like he is pretty comfy in his new home.
Thanks Laura.

Just think of the stories those little birdies have to tell when they get back to their families. As for Murf, he's just "doin' a what come naturally!"

lyndee

Sounds like my day Laura. I had a nuthatch fly into my window and knocked himself out. He laid there a good five minutes before he came to. Just as he came to, a chipmunk decided to attack him. The poor little bird got away and hung onto my screen. I chased the chipmunk away and the bird finally flew away!!! Poor bird must of had a big headache after that was all over!!!!

roseheather

Aw, he has fur on the bottom of his feet similar to my daughter's kitty, Spencer.

Spencer has fur between his toes too. : )

He may have been living off birds before he adopted you and the habit is hard to break. Lookin' good, Murf!

tigress

I guess you can't fight the laws of nature, Laura. Murf looks very relaxed here. Thanks for sharing. :-)
