Thanks Hester - Nadolig Llawen( with an Aussie accent!) to you & your family too. I was a bit surprised too chickie - thanks. Thanks Graciela - & to you too!
Plumpossum got me thinking about red-nosed reindeer - so I had a look for an answer, & this is what I came across on the Yahoo site. Hope you find it as enlightening as I did! I thought it was just a song-writers bit of fun :))
"Actually Red-Nosed Reindeer have always been around. This feature occurs only in male deer and in roughly .001% of the male reindeer population. For a reindeer to have a red nose requires that both parents carry the gene. Scientists are not sure what natural selection was behind the red nose, though some surmise that at one time most male reindeer had red noses, probably to attract the females. However it would be a strong negative to have a shiny nose a night when predators were about so the red-nosed population was eventually reduced to small proportions by natural selection".
