Why are you reporting this puzzle?

This delivery van, maintained by the Kinney's Drug Store chain (I presume, anyway, given the license plate), was on display. I'm not sure of its vintage - perhaps someone can identify it.

[Discussion in the comments. I'm going with kenworth's ID.]

OK, 1936 it is.

Dondi,
1936 Ford had three different models of panel delivery trucks. They were 51, 67, and 68. The 1936 had the Ford emblem at the front of the louvered side panels of the hood. The 1935 had a Ford emblem in the center of the louvered side panels of the hood and a V8 emblem at the top of the hood. The 1937 had a V8 emblem in the center of the louvered side panels and a Ford emblem at the top of the grille. The 1936 could be ordered with artillery type wheels, wire spoked wheels or saftey rims with a split outer ring.

Interesting, kenworth. How solid is that ID? I thought they made a substantial grill change in 1936, and switched from spoked wheels to disc wheels. On the other hand, the pictures I've seen indicate that they weren't consistent model to model on the front end details; did they hold back on the changes in the utilitarian models?

After looking at my Ford Trucks Catalog (1905 - 2002), I would say that it is a 1936 Model 51 Ford Panel Truck.

They apparently dropped the Model A designation in '32, when they introduced the 8-cylinder. The wheels/hubcaps make it between '32 and '35. Looking at what pictures I can see on HubCapCafe.com, the '32 windshield was more erect and squarer, and the '32s still had a flat grill and higher more prominent headlights. No pictures of the '33s, but the '34s had the V-grill, rounded at the bottom, witha dip bumper. The rounding above the grill seems to have been model-specific; up to '36 most, including the fanciest, seem to be squared off with chrome at the top, rather than rounded over as this one is, although the '32 roadster and coupe showed something similar. So nothing definitive, but I'm guessing '33 or '34.

I believe it's a '35, but not an A

'33 or '34 Model A
