Weird, isn't it, Cel?

CelesteH

Interesting flower :)

laurajane

I changed it after the comments were read, mariolyn. Sorry to be confusing. Thanks for stopping by!

mariolyn

I'm confused. The title of the puzzle is bromeliad. Or did you add it only after the comments were read?

laurajane

First of all, I want to thank those who identified this as a bromeliad. I knew it wasn't an orchid, but didn't know what it was called. It is so strange looking!

Thank you very much for your comments, Ank, Gene, PG, snooker, lyndee, Patti, Pat, chickie, fodus, morris, anitas and Robyn!

I used to have this one Laura - very nice photo of it - thanks! Once the plant flowers it throws off suckers & each plant only ever flowers once.

anitas

What an interesting flower.

morris186

WOW!!! Love it!

fodus

I have seen one blooming once. In a home. Thanks for the info.

chickiemama

Wonderful set again! Thank you Laura!

lyndee

Very nice Laura...... I assume it was an orchid too.

snooker

Very lovely set, lj. You take beautiful photos.

photogent

This is a bromeliad not an orchid. They, like orchids bloom once a year and the flower lasts for several weeks. Lovely LJ.

Hi Laura, this is a beauty. It is a Bromeliad. The Bromeliad Aechmea Nature's Pride. We also call it Sleeve Bromeliads. It is my favorite Bromeliad. Thanks for this beautiful photo.
