We've had at least one here for at least a month. Not sure what he found to eat, but I'd see him moving from one set of woods to the other.

Thank you Lyndee and Warbler Dave! I wonder if their habits changed with the unusual weather?

warbler

I've noticed them around more lately too. We have a pair that are permanent residents off my back yard, but I hardle saw them this winter which was unusual.

lyndee

Last year I had two of these hanging around in my yard for three days. I guess they were passing through. If you have them already, I guess they didn't stop by this year.

Thanks Beekay. I saw a lot of them today. Spring must be here. :)

Beekay

Spring has arrived for you if the flickers are back.

Thanks Dondi. I was lucky he stayed put for a little while.

You beat me again! For several weeks, I've been seeing them at a distance regularly, and hearing them in the woods, but have been unable to get anywhere near close enough to get a photo. Nice job.

Thanks Treker. I often forget that they are woodpeckers!

Thank you Sandy!

Very nice Patti!

These are great insect eating "machines"! There are two that frequent our property. ;-))

:) Thank you IF!

Nice photo, Patti. He's perched precariously on a precarious perch.
