Why are you reporting this puzzle?

This one is for juliastacey. I kept then piece count low because of the preponderance of black attire. Alas, the photographer elected not to include any background information. God bless our li'l rebel! My guess is that he or she is the keynote speaker! ;-)

I hope you hear from him!

You're welcome! Glad that I could assist.

Have just emailed the photographer to ask what the story is. Who knows if he'll ever reply though - is probably in darkest Africa or in the Amazon jungle at the moment.

Thanks so much dris651! I wasn't able to post it, despite your instructions. However, found the "khazi" definition you led me to.

It certainly seems a somber situation in spite of his costume...his expression suggests a "problem."

Got me! I've never heard anything about the Hasidim being jocular and lighthearted about their faith and lifestyle. Now this is a huge crowd to boot - I think that less than half the crowd is pictured here. There must be several thousand followers in this hall, which seems very old world with its verticality. Look how worn that bench is also! Here's a little insight from a "refugee from Hasidic society":

I assume since he's in the front row and that jam-packed facility has no empty seats other than those next to him, he's definitely part of the proceedings as are those who vacated the seats. But what part? A demonstration of No Clowning Around When You're At Synagogue? Take Your Religion And Heritage Seriously But Not Yourself?

Remember Roy Scheider in All That Jazz? "It's showtime folks!"

Or "Is it time yet?"

Well done, lad! This reminds me of when you read about someone who has twelve shirts in their closet, all white so they don't have to make any decisions first thing in the morning! Love the expression on our clown - "Yeah, so what of it?"

Bill_I_Am

Thanks, Andy, for a fun puzzle!
