I think it is a mountain ash. See: http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_query?query_src=photos_index&where-taxon=Sorbus+americana
Just found another site for plants recommended for Wyoming and Sorbus scopulina is one of them, obviously a mountain ash for that area: http://www.wildflower.org/collections/collection.php?start=0&collection=WY&pagecount=10&pagecount=100 They are alphabetical so you can scroll down to it.
It looks like the fruit of an ash tree or an ash crossed with something else. There is a cross between an ash and pear (which this is definitely not) which bears large edible fruit. Some types of ash bear edible fruit but some do not so check with your county extension agent (USA) or whomever is responsible for knowing which plants and fruits it is okay to eat before you try them.
