...Shall be using Google Earth to see more. The only part of Australia we visited was Sydney and surrounding areas - way back in '87.

Thank you for visiting my town, Ank, it is a nice country town, we live approx. 50K or 45 minutes from Dalby, Interesting to know the size of your country Ank, so tiny compared to Australia. the Netherlands would not be as big as the state of queensland where I live( that's the map I have here)If you have a look at a map chookies posted today, you can see the size of Australia compared to USA. I just visit your town by google. It looks beautiful. And then I read the comments and saw You don't live in that town. You have to drive 45 min, for being in that town. I can't imagine. My country is so small (the Netherlands) in 3 hours I can drive from North to South and in less as 2 hours from West till East. The thing I read here are very interesting. I think you had to work hard. I hope you will show more of your country your town your yard. Thanks

I have just returned from Dalby, Google Earth, of course. I saw photos of Golders, Bella Spice and downtown, which is lovely. We do live in very different places. The most amazed I was about where you live was when I saw your photo of Grey Parrots walking around in your back yard. I've only seen them in cages, which is sad. Thanks SO much for this post. I love to look up places on Google Earth. Dalby was most enteresting!

I'm finding it very interesting talking to you, shirley! Obviously you are a country girl and have been all your life - whereas I'm a city girl and have been all my life. Our lives, although we live in the same country, are very, very different. I'd love to talk to you again when I'm not so busy.....

Hi chookies, Dalby region is renowned as a rich agricultural area, growing crops such as Cotton, Sorghum, Wheat, Barley, Sunflowers, Chickpeas, Mung beans and Corn, as well as Lamb, Beef and Pork, Also have a large Coal and Gas fired power stations. We are retired now, but were Beef cattle breeders. Thanks for your interest chookies.

Shirley, obviously living inland and not on the coastline do you grow things like cotton, rice, wheat etc. In other words, what do you do in a country town like Dalby?

Thank you for the interest in my small country town, chookies, I've been to Cairns and I have family on the gold Coast, as you say these places are a fair way from where I live, so I don't get to go there very often, I'll take my camera with me next time I go to town. Thanks chookies.

It's big enough, in that you can buy everything you need there, maybe not the variety you get in the larger towns,Dalby is about 45minute drive for us, next big town is Toowoomba, which is approx 11/2 hour drive. we usually shop once a week, so I'll see if I can take some snaps next time I'm in town. I'm so glad you posted this, shirley - yes, with a population of nearly 10 thousand, it's certainly classed as a small country town. I am very interested to see more postings of where you live as well !! You certainly are a long way from where I live...the closest I've been would have to be Cairns and the Gold Coast but of course, with both places being in Queensland, it's still a long way from where you are.
