Springfield is well worth a weekend trip.
Definitely a postcard!! Thanks Laurajane. : )
The trees were blocking the wide expanse of this building. Thanks for all your comments (and link) morris, warbler, chickie, Jack sweetheart, rosie, and Cellie!
Very awesome shot LJ :)Looks like it should be on a post card
Thanks for the link Warbler. Interesting to learn that there is also a statue of Everett Dirksen on the grounds of this building. I liked hearing him speak. A fine representative to have in DC with his skills at pulling sides together.
I am amazed at the detail in buildings from the 1800's. There is such refinement to them. Thanks for sharing this.
beautiful building sweetie!
Nice shot of it from the car Laura!
A great website of photos of the building inside:http://www.ilstatehouse.com/
Viola! is right! I wouldn't think it was a newer building. I can guess who the statue is of. Thanks LJ.
Nice photo, laura!
Yes, Lyndee, this is the new one...1868. I took a photo of the old capitol building, too. Yes, Pumpkin, this building just thinks it's so fancy.
Capitol Buildings are always very dramatic looking.
This must be the new capitol bldg. I think there is an old one too.
