Beautiful bird!!! I always think of the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. And did you hear about the sequel ...

Good one, Laura! :)

Thanks ironroad, I need a better camera first.

I saw, solved and thought I left a comment madj. I'll check.

madj

Hi again Dave. Did you see the funny puzzle of the mockingbird that I posted today? ☺

Great closeup of this bird. You should be taking photos for the bird books....

laurajane

What a cute little bird. I hope nobody kills it.

warbler

Hi madj, I've been solving larger puzzles alot more lately many of them yours.

Thanks Floyd, I don't believe they ever come up where you live, even in the summer.

Thanks Janet, they are sort of the size of an American Robyn if you saw any of those on your US travels.

I didn't realize that marolyn. It makes sense though!

... don't you cry, Momma's gonna make.... :-)

Thank you LBH, it was very cooperative for some reason.

TheLittleBlueHat

Beautiful photo! Thanks, Dave :)

mariolyn

Florida state bird.

jan42ful

So that's a Mockingbird, Warbs. I've never seen one before. Very cute and quite like our little Wrens with that long tail. Thanks and hugs.

Gladstone

Good looking bird and picture.
Thanks Dave.

madj

Welcome back home Dave. It looks like you had a great time in New Orleans. Look on my site tomorrow as I am posting a picture for you. ☺, Margaret

The white on their wings is much bigger when they fly, Patti, which is pretty distinctive. I just checked the bird book-they very rarely come up where you are. Thanks Sorry I missed you below

Which one, Ellen?

They are great mimics. I had a young one show up here by my house a few years ago, Jacki, that never sang. Then one day it found its voice and was constantly singing. It was a single one, no others around. I would be working outside and would whistle to it, and it would mimic me back. I got it to eventually do "shave and a hair cut" but it couldn't make the transition to add "two bits" on the shave and a hair cut part. After awhile a female came along and I was forgotten history in its attention span.

Glad you enjoyed it k9trakr, they are State bird is several states I believe. They always make me smile, too.

Got it Ellen.

Now you got it Lyndee!

I just told a story below about me singing with one snooker. They do make balance seem easy.

They're pretty common here too. Suzy. We have a pair that live close by my house. I'm surprised they aren't up by you too.

That brings back fun memories, smllpkg!

There are a couple in and out of my yard here Plum but they don't bother the cats that I've ever noticed.

And now you have abel! Cool!

goingsilver

Great photo, cute bird!

abel

I have never seen one of these!

Plumpossum

Mockingbirds harass my cats unmercifully. They have even been known to attack people! But they do sing very nicely.

smllpkg101

...he's gonna' buy me a mockingbird." ♫ ♪

But I'm sure this one sings!

pumpkinhead

,,,have you heard???
Love seeing them when we're down south.
Great photo, Warb!

We have them here and there is one that lives across the street. We talk to each other sometimes. Like how this one has one foot down and the other up and is still well balanced.

lyndee

So this is what they look like? Nothing like I expected.

PutterDutt

Warbs! You're killing me! Have you gone to see the news at: http://www.jigidi.com/solve.php?id=M4HKOZED ???

k9trakr

What a beauty....where I was born and raised they are the state bird...I have a soft spot for these little singers/talkers...thanks for posting.

PLG1958

Beautiful photo, Dave! Thank you! (I never would have been able to identify it.)

bluebird42

Oh, I do love mockingbirds. Watching them. Listening to them. There was one who seemed to live in a bayberry bush near a path I often took. He was always there and always singing when I walked past. And he never bothered hiding or shutting up when I went by. I felt honored that he seemed to trust me. Thanks Dave!

PutterDutt

Oh, great! Now I'm going to have that song in my head all night. Who sang that....James Taylor?
