The Brooks Catsup Bottle Water Tower is a water tower south of Collinsville, Illinois. It is claimed to be the largest catsup bottle in the world. As a prime example of mid-20th-century novelty architecture, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Presently, the tower is most notable in its capacity as a regional landmark and as a roadside attraction.

Yes, morris. Some cool stuff to see...if you like catsup bottles, that is :o)

The water tower was constructed in 1949 by the W.E. Caldwell Company. It was built to supply water to the nearby Brooks catsup plant. I saw it recently in a PBS documentary, but can't remember which one.

Probably, lyndee! Nice one laura! Looks like there is a lot tu see down that way!

Ha Ha Laura. I would bet it's the only catsup bottle tower in the world!

laurajane

When you think about it, they shouldn't say that this is the world's largest bottle of catsup, because it's not a bottle of catsup. It's a water tower. Just sayin'.

laurajane

Wow, it's still around! That's great, FITS.

I still buy Brooks catsup at Meirs in Louisvillle,Ky.----FlowersInTheSun

This water tower is on IL Route 159, only a few miles away from Fairview Heights.

I remember when I could buy Brooks catsup. I think I've seen this tower before.....or maybe I've just seen a picture of it.

Very cool, LJ. Reminded me of the movie "Michael" (which I watch every Christmas and more), with John Travolta as the angel and he made his friends drive miles out of the way so he could see the world's biggest ball of twine! I LOVE that movie! Thanks for the jig.
