My sister was in Calgary for Christmas Barb. She's coming home today or tomorrow so I didn't hear anything from Toronto. She's in the same area, south of St. Clair but just west of Yonge so she may be coming home to no power.

Thanks Ank. I sent everyone else away. It was easier coping on my own.

My niece and I went to my friend's open house today - she is on Millwood Road and we approached her house from Mt Pleasant only to find a tree that had fallen right across the street so we had to go around to Yonge St and get to her house from that way. Lots of trees down across the city as I'm sure you have heard and still so many without power.
Take your time with the cleanup and make sure the family help which I know they will. :-)

puzzeljac

Wow poor girl, I'm glad you all came through.

Thanks Ardy, cinderfire and Florrie. Clean up will take several weekends with help for sure and not until there some thawing to get the branches free of the ice. Things can only get better now as long as the power stays on. My family lived through the war and I heard a lot of stories of their hardships so this really pales in comparison. I do intend to have more of an emergency plan in effect in the future :-)))

You must be feeling shell-shocked. Hopefully, you will have help with the clean-up. I'm relieved you were able to sustain the care of the animals in your care. Sending you all the strengthening vibes I can.

cinderfire

You sure had a rough time. I hope things will continue to improve.

Your poor trees. To say nothing of the clean up. If that's the worst of it I'm thankful.

Thanks everyone. My power has stayed on and the house is now up to 14 and I'm already feeling too warm with my multi layers. During the outage it got as low as 7 inside and I would then get into bed with several quilts and it was not bad. The bad thing around here is that when the power goes out I have no water since we are on a well and I need the pump to bring it in. My daughter brought me water from her house but the temp outside went down to -20 and the chicken and dog water would freeze in a short time so I had to refill several times a day. I was trying to melt ice in front of the fireplace but it took to long and ended up using my bottled drinking water for the chickens. Everyone survived so that's a good thing :-)))

Looks bad Edie. I hope you, the family, the pets and the house don't have damage. I hope you could keep it warm enough.

Beekay

Glad to know you have power again! Take care and stay warm.
