Maybe it's a fledgeling, learning to fly, etc., and hasn't gathered its wits yet. Or maybe it is injured. Thankfully, that kitten looks perplexed more than anything!

The kitten probably didn't hurt the bird before the photo. But, why is the bird just sitting there? Is it injured?

By the look in the kitten's eyes the bird will have survived( I hope.)
