Why are you reporting this puzzle?

How long does it take to master a craft? How about 80 years? Because 109-year-old Australian Alfred Date has been knitting since the 1930s and his latest/most famous endeavor was making mini sweaters… for endangered penguins!

Back in 2013, Victoria’s Phillip Island Penguin Foundation asked for volunteers to make sweaters for the rare “little penguins.” Alfie, who has yet to learn to say no, pitched in.

Father to 7, grandparent to 20, he’s not only been an active knitter, but also a sportsman, having played golf till his 90’s.

His secret for longevity? “Waking up every morning”. (boredpanda.com)

Let me know if they ever (which I really doubt they will) reach the foisting stage. I'll give you my address.

I have donated some things. Some of my weaving has gone to charity auctions. Lately I have been knitting for children and grandchildren but that "market" will be saturated soon so will have to find another outlet. What I don't want to do is get in the situation where they hate to see me coming in case I might foist something on them
Cold here in MI too. Stay warm Tim

Hi, Tim. Good for you and your consistency! I crocheted for many years but haven't in quite a while. The especially cold winter, with another blast on tap, made me think - do you donate your creations to local shelters and missions?

patw

Hello again, Rebecca. Yup, super guy!

Pat;
What a riot. Have to tell you I have been a knitter for 67 years now. It has been the one constant craft in my life. After awhile your market gets saturated and you need an outlet for your product, donated or otherwise so I can totally understand how he would get involved with this. Great pic and story. Thanks
Tim

That is a great idea, PuzzleG. Here's the site. On the top right there is a "Contact Us" button you can click on and tell them about how they might go about executing it. (I'm going to suggest they might want to create jigsaw puzzles of their photos to sell.) Thank you!

These are absolutely adorable! What a kind & clever thing to do for these poor creatures. And what an amazing man, using his time & skills to help others, even so late in his life. I would love to have an adult human one like the one with the penguin on it. I think it would be great if someone, or a group, could make similar ones for humans & sell them to raise even more money for this cause. Just my idea of course. Thank you for sharing this interesting & inspiring puzzle & photo. (((Hugs))) from Oregon, USA.

Yes, he is. And yes, they are. :-)

What a wonderful caring person, and the sweaters are beautiful.
