Why are you reporting this puzzle?

I had never heard of temari balls, until a few years back when June Shone posted a collage of them. But once I’d seen them, I just knew I wanted to try them out in the kaleido-maker! So I checked with June to make sure that she was OK with that because I didn’t want to step on her toes if she was planning to do the same thing! 101 kaleidos later ………………… LOL I posted my first collage of them back then, but was having a look through my files recently and realised how much I love these little guys. The colours and shapes are wonderful! I chose this set for both of those features. And couldn’t whittle my shortlist down to anything less than 16, so made a 4x4 rather than a 3x3. I hope you like them as much as I do.

I made these kaleidoscopes from freely available images of temari balls, and use a variety of programs to make my kaleidoscopes, colour the backgrounds and assemble them into a collage.

It gives me immense pleasure making them, and I hope it gives you pleasure solving them. (•‿•)

Gosh - that's a wonderful compliment Nicky! Thank you! I'm hope you won't find it too hard. Each kaleido is a 2x2 in this one, so I think it's at the easier end of the scale for this size. Fingers crossed it went well for you. Thanks again. (•‿•)

niccolino59

I'm going to have a go at this one because, although I don't usually do the larger puzzles, this is just so gorgeous! I will take my time and enjoy. Thanks for posting such a beauty, RW.

RandomWorship

Ah. I see. No worries John. (•‿•)

feederjohn

H'i Kirsten i was going to leave you i like to a puzzle i had composed but have axed the idea thanks John :~)

RandomWorship

It HAS been waiting for you all week, Ardy. I think if it had fingers and fingernails, you may have heard them drumming from there! LOL!! I thought your quacking ducks might have been your favourite. And I really like your maypole and daisies too. I loved the shapes and patterns in these - which is why I chose them all. And I'm super happy that you like them. I had an inkling that you might - but good to have it confirmed!! And I'm also really happy that you had a great week. Working dogs are amazing, aren't they? I love smart dogs. Although I have to confess that my last dog wasn't so smart. But he was loveable in his own dopey way. I hope you're settling back into the quiet - and see you on your morrow. Have a good rest of your evening, and sleep well Goodnight ((HUGS))

This is WONDERFUL Kirsten. And to think it has been sitting here waiting for me all week. They are all delightful and beautiful and could be full of stories. Like my favorite has yellow ducks with mouths wide open quacking out a rousing anthem. (Third row from top and second from left.) Then there is the one with the young girls doing a maypole dance around a central flower with daisies on the outer edge. (second row from top, second from right) There is something very special about the top left corner as well as top right corner and ..... Too many favorites I'll have them all. Thanks, my friend. I've had a wonderful week. It was a real treat to see all those dogs performing their herding chores so well. I would attend another trial in a minute. I would guess you are about to awaken to your Saturday so shall send good morning ((HUGS))

That's the one, Gail! (•‿•)

Just a little bit of trivia.

Beautiful...thanks Kirsten!

RandomWorship

Thanks Jil!! I'm very happy that you like them! (•‿•)

RandomWorship

You saw that, Hester? Oops. LOL! (~‿•)

RandomWorship

Thanks John! I'm glad you like this one, and appreciate you dropping by. (•‿•)

And do you mean links to puzzles in the comments or descriptions? I do it occasionally, but it's never very successful. Some of those puzzles go completely unsolved, or only attract one or two people.

RandomWorship

Thanks Norma! I'm so pleased you liked it, and that it didn't misbehave for you during the solve! Thanks for letting me know too. (•‿•)

PS I LOVE your profile name. "Nigel no mates" was a saying when I was a kid - so seeing your profile name gave me my first laugh for the day!

RandomWorship

Thanks Barbara!! I'm delighted you enjoyed this one, and let me know. It's lovely to see you too. (•‿•)

TheLittleBlueHat

Lovely kaleidos, Kirsten! Thanks :)

feistyfreddy

Ok you guys, settle down! Frederica? Puhleeze!! LOL! I did wonder when I chose my alter ego , FF, if people might get my gender confused. But, as to being a bra-burning, male hating, hairy legged feminist....you'd be waaay out! ROFLMAO. And Maddie, I'm so sorry to hear you were afraid of me. :-(( I don't bite. Dang it, Freddy doesn't even bite!! ;-)) His sire was called Barney so that was one of the reasons to choose his name. ( there is a Flintstones thing going on here! ) Also, my mother's name was Freda. Definitely not Frederica!!
But you have a teddy bear called Frederik who is 28 years old. That is how old Growly is!!! And you chose the same favourites as I did. I'm getting a wacky vibe going on here! LOL,
Anyway ladies, call me anything you want, just not to early in the morning. Tosh, boom! The old jokes are the best! ;-))

feederjohn

super Collage of Kals Kirsten :~) ps link to puzzle i'm not sure its a good idea comments please

That was lovely, thank you. I'm normally useless at kaleidoscope puzzles, but didn't do too badly on this one. Thanks again!

BarbaraL

Every one is gorgeous, my favourite is the first one on the second row, Thank you.

RandomWorship

Ha! You know of course that it's her DOG that is Freddy!!! I'm not sure how she will take being called Fredica. But give it a shot, and tell me how it goes. Maybe I'll hear the screams from here. LOL!! And you know my Dad's middle name was Frederick. He was of Danish descent, and it was his father's name. It was probably originally spelt like your Frederik I think. (•‿•)

I've gotta go now too. I should have been making my dinner 30 minutes ago! Arrrgghhh! LOL See you tomorrow Maddie! ❤❤❤

madpol

oh my God, Frederica !!!!! LOL !!!From now on, I can only think of her as Frederica :-))))))) 28 years ago, I bought a teddy bear, and called him Frederik.. Hmmm.....It all comes together.. very weird..
Gotta go now, have a million things to do. have a nice day/evening Kirsten!! ♥

RandomWorship

I dunno either! Probably shouldn't have mentioned it really. LOL And in the early days of Hester visiting me, before I knew her properly, I imagined that she was a feisty feminist called Frederica!! LOL

madpol

Oh, I don't know.. What does that mean??? (I used to be afraid of FeistyFreddy, I thought she was a he, and he seemed so ... feisty !!! LOL... Only later I found out she was sweet and funny... :-))

RandomWorship

So glad you've had a fun day, Ardy. And hope you are sleeping soundly as I type. Enjoy this one when you get to it. ((HUGS))

RandomWorship

Thanks Dize! I'm delighted you like this one. (•‿•)

RandomWorship

Thanks very much, Maddie! Isn't it fun to discover something new and interesting? I always used to go out of my way to find offbeat and interesting things to kaleido, back when they were the only kinds of puzzles that I made. And guess what? Your faves are the same as Hester's! I wonder what that means............................... (•‿•)

RandomWorship

Awwww. Thanks Gail! You say the sweetest (and funkiest!) things!! (•‿•)

RandomWorship

Thank you Char!! I appreciate you taking the time to let me know that you really like this one, given how time-pressured you are at the moment. I hope hubby's shoulder is mending nicely, and that he's being a "good" patient. (•‿•)

RandomWorship

WOW! Thanks so much, Nadine!! That's a HUGE compliment. I'm really happy that you like them so much. Thanks again. (•‿•)

RandomWorship

Thanks Francine! I think they make really interesting kaleidos too, which I much prefer over bog-standard pretty and bright. (•‿•)

RandomWorship

Thanks Pat! And how lovely to see you! I hope you're well. (•‿•)

RandomWorship

Thank you Valentine! I'm delighted you like this one, and appreciate that you let me know. (•‿•)

You're close, Nadine. It's Kaleido Kween.

retiredwizard

GAIL, I'm taking a guess...............is that Kaleido Kreator by any chance???

madpol

I had to google too, had never heard of them.. theyre beautiful, I'd love to make one some day.. But Kirsten, It is so gorgeous what you did with your temari balls.. Before I solved it I had seen it was very pretty, but once it was solved... WOW !! So very beautiful !!! I really love it, and again, I have a favorite, actually 2, : from the second row, the second fom the left, and from the bottom row also the second from the left. But the rest is equally beautiful actually :-)))) Thanks so much !!!

octomom

You da bes' KK ever.

frauhugs

beautiful!!!!!

retiredwizard

I think that was the most fun I've had with a puzzle Kirsten. I'd never heard of these so I had to look them up - fascinating - but I really enjoyed piecing together the little puzzles first (and each was a different color so it was easy). Thanks so much for the fun! ♥

bookish

They're all pretty. I remember June's temari balls, as you, having never heard of them before. Thanks, Kirsten.

pkin38

Just gorgeous ... Love them all ..

Valentine53

Some lovely patterns there Kirsten, especially the third down on the far left and the bottom right. Very hard though to choose. Thank you.

RandomWorship

Wow, Shirley. I'm very impressed!! What a shame we can't see it. But I'll bet it was beautiful!! (•‿•)

Shian2

Yes Kirsten I have made a Temari ball, A group of ladies demonstrated old crafts at our local woolshed annually, and one of the ladies in our group brought along a Japanese Temari Ball for us to try our hand at, it's made from a polystyrene ball which is padded and then coloured threads are wrapped around the ball in a pretty pattern, I don't have the ball now as this goes back about 30 years ago.

RandomWorship

Yay! I knew you would be happy with this one, Sandi. And I think someone else close to us might be too. LOL I have a big smile on my face knowing how much you like it. And I hope you have a wonderful day. (•‿•)

SandiT

Oh, I remember these! I loved them then and I love them now! Wonderful colors! I like the top right and I agree with Sheena on the second from right on the top row. Third row down on the right is also one of my favorites. Puzzles like this are why you find me roaming around your dusty archives. Thanks so much for what you do now and what you did then. I enjoy your puzzles very much. Sweet Dreams!

RandomWorship

Thanks Sheena! I was in the dark about them too, until June posted her puzzle a few years back. And then I went looking for images of them to make these kaleidos from, and was blown away! They are SO beautiful!! And I can tell how much you like this one. You named a fave! I don't recall you ever doing that before. Thanks!! (•‿•)

RandomWorship

I thought this might make my kaleido-lovers happy, Hester! I'm so happy you like it. I adore these kaleidos too. They remind me of my kaleidos of old. When I used to make them from interesting things in interesting colour palettes. Back when people used to solve those kinds of kaleidos!! (•‿•)

And low blow missy! Not that I know anything about cricket either. When the sport comes on the telly, all I hear is blah, blah, blah. But it's been such a big story here, I have heard a smidge about how England has given us a whipping! LOL So, gloat away my love. It means nothing to me!! (•‿•)

sheenpeen

What a beautiful puzzle, fantastic kaleidos. Had to google temari balls, they are lovely no wonder they make such beautiful kaleidos. Drawn to top row 2nd from right. Thank you (*~*)

feistyfreddy

Oh Kirsten! These are exquisite! I love each and every one. The detailing is so intricate and the colouring beautiful. I'm going to snap up a few faves before the rest of the gang get here!
Top line:the two middle ones.
2nd line: the two on the left. That teal one is just gorgeous!
3rd line : the blue one and,
Bottom line: well, it has to be that regal purple one. Love it :-))

I'm going to sneak in another size before I hit the supermarket. The sun is out ('ray!! ) and we are having a few around for a barbie this afternoon. Don't know what the topic of conversation will be.....there may just be a mention of a certain "Pommicide"... LOL!!
Sorry, that was a low blow. I don't follow the cricket but I think the whole country is rejoicing in recovering the Ashes. Especially after the thrashing you gave us the last time!! ;-))

RandomWorship

Thanks so much, Shirley! I feel most honoured. Three of my puzzles in a row! And I'm super happy you like these ones. But I have to ask. DO you mean that you made kaleidos from temari balls? Or do you mean you actually made temari balls? Either way, I'm impressed!! I'd love to see them. You are SO creative, I just know they would be beautiful. (•‿•)

Shian2

Oh I love each one of these glorious kaleidos, Kirsten, they really are lovely, I remember many years ago I did try my hand at one of these Japanese Temari balls, they are very colourful and many designs can be created. Thanks, Kirsten, they bring back memories for me.
